morning syntax

purring ambulances
pull in and out of
the nursing home drive
across the street


electric gates beep
revealing the parking lot
to questing insectoid automobiles 


and the rolling carts
of garbage drone
their way to the dumpster


aides and nurses hurry in


then it will be time
for the delivery trucks
medical supplies, UPS, FEDEX


traffic on the avenue


this stately procession
every morning, this protocol
outside my window
